Contiguous Piling in Sydney
Contiguous piled walls are made up of a row of unconnected cast-in-situ concrete piles with minor gaps between them, which are made with CFA or rotary bored piles (replacement piles techniques).
Contiguous pile walls are simpler and affordable supporting systems than other lateral soil supporting systems because of the lower cost and shorter construction time when considering small to medium scale depths of excavation. In a contiguous piled wall, the diameter of each pile is usually not less than 300mm.
Where the groundwater table is below the excavation level, contiguous piles are the best option. It is usually the most cost-effective and time-efficient alternative. The wall is made up of individual piles that are normally set at 150mm centers, creating gaps where the earth is exposed during excavation.
